School News for January 2009

Welcome back from a wonderful holiday season.  We look forward to an exciting year in 2009.  Parents, along with teachers, are the key to the academic, social and emotional development of our children.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call your child's teacher or the office.  Our second marking period will end on January 30^th with report cards distributed on February 6^th.

ACE:  The PTA's After Class Enrichment Program will begin on Thursday, January 8^th and run for four weeks (Thursdays).  A late bus will be provided for bus students.

A friendly reminder to all parents:

Parking:  Brunner does not have a drop off and pick up area.  The only available spots for parents are in the front of the building.  All of the spots on the side of the building are for staff only.  If you have a child attending either an AM or PM session of kindergarten or pre-K, please follow the rules above and do not park along the side of the building in teacher parking spaces.

It has also been noticed that parents are parking in the very rear of the staff parking spots and in the handicapped spots.  Please do not wait in unauthorized spots to pick up or drop off your child.  It is very important that all parents follow the rules, not just the majority.  If you have extenuating circumstances, please see Mrs. Frank.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Early dismissals:   Please send a note in to your child's teacher or the main office when your child has to leave early.  The lunch period is from 11:50 am-12:50 pm.

Students going home for lunch:  If your child goes home for lunch they should enjoy one hour with you.   Children are dismissed at 11:50 am and should return to school at 12:50 pm.  Please remember to send a note to the teacher/office when going home for lunch.

Dismissal:  Please arrange dismissal plans with your child before coming to school.  It is disruptive to the classroom to call with dismissal messages.  Calls should be made in emergency situations only.

Bus students:  If your child takes the bus each day and there is a change in schedule/pick up, a note must be sent in with your child.  If there is no note, your child will be put on the bus.

Attendance (all grades including pre-school):  Please call the attendance line 889-2148 (option 3) when your child is absent.

Lunch payments and menu selection (grades 1-4):  Please submit lunch payment and selection by Wednesday of each week.
