Hello Everyone!
Welcome Back!! I'm happy to be back to school. For those of you who
know me, I like to be called Mrs. R. For those of you who don't know me, I
would like to provide some important information.
- "Thank you" for following the nutrition guidelines provided by the state.
For any snacks or birthday treats we encourage you to pick something on the
healthy snack ideas list sent home with your child. A copy of these guidelines
is available in the Student
Wellness Letter. Please be aware of all allergies in your child's classroom.
If you send in birthday treats, they are checked by me before going into the
classroom. If they contain an ingredient to which a child is allergic, they will
be sent back home. We don't want to have to disappoint a birthday child so please
be diligent and check all ingredient lists and send in the ingredient list with the
treat.
- Please remember that if your child requires an OTC (over the counter medication) or
prescription medication to be taken at school there must be a doctor's note stating
the medication and how it should be administered. This includes cough drops,
Tylenol, etc.
- Please don't be alarmed if I call you if your child has been absent for 3 or
more days. I like to see how the child is doing and find out what the problem is.
I keep track of all contagious illnesses so please call me and let me know so I
can keep my records current.
- If your child has had an injury and needs to be out of gym or recess more than
one day, please provide me with a note from the doctor stating how long they need to
skip gym and recess and any physical limitations we should observe.
- If your child is running a temperature or vomits in school, you will be called
to pick up your child.
- Please be diligent in keeping the emergency blue cards up to date with the
current phone numbers. It is very important that we be able to reach you when
we need to. If a person is not listed on the emergency blue card, they CANNOT
pick up your child unless we get approval from you. Click on this blue card link or on the "Forms,
Flyers & More" page of the web site for a copy.
- This year we are collecting for the
Valerie Fund Children's Center. If you have any extra pennies lying around
bring them in for a good cause. The container is located on a table next to the
main office. I am very proud of the $851.73 we raised last year for
Autism Speaks.
On a personal note, my son Michael started first grade and my daughter Cassidy has
just started pre-school. In May 2008 I successfully completed my studies for my
Masters in Education degree. This is my 9th year at Brunner and, as always, my door is always open for questions or concerns.
Please drop by
and visit during the Teachers' Conference Night.
