The purpose of the Newspaper Club is to provide students with current information on events that are occurring at Park School and within the community. The newspaper also provides an opportunity for students to voice their opinions and share original writings. The club publishes a bi-monthly newsletter called “THE PARK PRESS”.
The Newspaper Club meetings are run by the Editor-In-Chief, under the supervision of the Club Advisor. At the meetings, members brainstorm and “claim” articles. Once a member takes responsibility for an article, he/she is responsible for writing the same independently. The Club Advisor provides necessary resources as well as reviews all articles.
Each member of the Newspaper Club is responsible for drafting, revising, editing and publishing two articles per edition. All members are expected to attend meetings regularly.
Students who join the Newspaper Club should have an interest in the writing process. Every member benefits by participating because they gain practical experience with this process. Seeing their published work gives them a great sense of pride and accomplishment.
