Resource Center Program

The Resource Center program provides students with small group instruction in the special education classroom and support in the general education setting. Although all children learn by individual styles and at widely varying rates, all resource center students have been identified and classified by the child study team as having specific disabilities which interfere with their learning.

The Resource Center program enables students to develop skills, learning strategies and/or attitudes that will enable them to develop and improve their educational competencies. Students are supported by special education teachers in general education classes by team teaching. Special education teachers also provide pull-out replacement instruction as indicated in a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Instructional responsibility for a resource center student is shared between the resource center and the general education class teacher. If a resource center student is having difficulty achieving success in a general education class, the resource center and the general education class teacher collaborate to implement appropriate curricular or instructional modifications.
