Information Technologies - Grade 6

curriculum emphasizes the development of the
following skills and applications: Word-processing,
Data Base Applications, Multimedia Presentations,
Internet Applications and Research Skills. Students
gain proficiency through the completion of
classroom assignments and projects. As students
progress through this grade both the skills and
applications build on prior experience and

tool for their own learning.
Information
Technologies Writing Lab - Grades 7 &
8
Appropriate technology plays an important role
in assisting students to derive the greatest
results from their education. Students' writing
skills combined with access to word processing
create opportunities for students to master writing
skills with technological support. This application
of technology in a writing lab enhances written
communication skills and allows students to revise,
edit, and self-assess through their own personal
electronic writing portfolios. In the writing lab
students develop writing skills applicable to
writing short stories, biographies, memoirs,
persuasive and descriptive essays, research or
issue based reports, and subject-appropriate
nonfiction pieces. The focus on improving writing
skills through the use of appropriate technology
will increase the writing experiences beyond the
language arts classroom thus reinforcing students'
writing skills.
