A Message from the
Superintendent of Schools
In the national drive to raise school
achievement, the greatest challenge to educators is
how to improve teaching and learning for all
students. In Scotch Plains-Fanwood, we strive to
accomplish this goal through a student-centered
learning community. Setting clear expectations in
an effort-based school replaces the assumption that
aptitude determines what and how much students
learn. In addition, we believe that if we expect
students to put forth and sustain high levels of
effort, we need to motivate them by regularly
recognizing their accomplishments.
The New Jersey Department of Education compiles
school report cards annually to provide information
about each individual school in the state. We hope
you find this information useful. In addition, the
Scotch Plains-Fanwood school district has developed
a consolidated report card format for the purpose
of combining all data in a single source. Please
use this statistical information together with the
information contained in the district's Annual
Report to the Community to give the most
comprehensive picture of the efforts and
accomplishments of our students and staff.
