A message of thanks from Mr. Klimko
As my time working in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District comes to a
close on August 1, 2008, I wanted to take some time to express some of my
thoughts to the wonderful individuals that make up these two supportive
communities. Since I entered the field of education in 1991, this has been
the one and only place that I have called home.
This current stage of transition in my career reminds me of my enjoyment of
reading books for pleasure. The most difficult part of reading a great book
is that you never want it to end. I always find myself having to switch to
another activity as I approach the book’s conclusion with the next book
waiting by its side. This is what I am feeling now as I leave Scotch
Plains-Fanwood to begin working as principal of Brookside Elementary School
in Cranford.
My seventeen years in the district of Scotch Plains-Fanwood have spanned a
period of time where I entered as novice to the field of education without
much knowledge about how a classroom, and no less a school, operates. I have
grown into an individual with a clear understanding of what makes for an
effective school and learning environment for the students and staff members
that enter its doors each day.
The first chapter in the next book in my life will definitely present some
new challenges that I can’t even imagine at this time. I feel that with all
of the experience that I have gained from working with all of you, I will be
ready for all that lies ahead of me. Always know that each of you has
contributed to that overwhelming puzzle that I need to reach my ultimate
potential. I am well aware that many hills remain, but I am equipped with an
incredible toolbox that came compliments of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood public
schools with extra support from those at Terrill Middle School.
I cannot thank all of you enough for what the two communities of Scotch
Plains and Fanwood have meant to me as well as my family for the past
seventeen years. My time here has enabled me to grow and learn so much from
the myriad of experiences during these valuable years.
In closing, my hope is to stay plugged in with what happens at Terrill and
throughout the district to keep abreast of the fantastic things that
continue to make Scotch Plains-Fanwood a leader in education. Be well and
good luck in the many prosperous years that lie ahead for each of you. My
reflections of the wonderful individuals that make up the Scotch
Plains-Fanwood School District will keep me smiling and never be forgotten.
My Sincere Thanks,
Michael Klimko

Dear Parents,
If there is a change in your personal information on file at Terrill (ie
phone number, email address, etc.), it is important that you inform either
the Main Office or the Counseling Office as soon as possible. It is the
parents responsibility to then inform the PTA of the change as the school
will not release student information.

This year in place of a summer Grade 6 Orientation, we hosted the “Sixth Grader For A Day” transition program in June.
To further assist with the transition to 6th Grade, on the first day of school, each team will take time to engage students in team building activities, as well as reviewing “How to Read Their Schedule” and other transition items.
We are assured that this personal touch will ensure that each 6th grader is ready for an exciting year.
