    Meet   MrsMelworm

Hi!  I am happy to be your teacher this year.  This is my twelfth year in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood school district.  I taught 5th grade at Terrill Middle School for 3 years before coming to Brunner in September of 2010.  Prior to coming to Scotch Plains, I taught middle school Science at an independent school.

I grew up right here in Scotch Plains and lived here for most of my life.  After living in White Plains, New York for a few years, I've now moved back to New Jersey and am living in Clinton.

I graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts and a minor in Italian.  I received my teaching certification (K-8) as a result of continuing my education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in December of 2017.  In addition to being highly qualified to teach the elementary grades, I'm also highly qualified to teach middle school mathematics.

Outside of school, I coach gymnastics at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA.  Although gymnastics is the only sport I competed in myself, I like watching ice hockey (favorite team: New Jersey Devils!), Villanova basketball (Go Wildcats! 2018 and 2016 NCAA National Champions!), and baseball (Go Yankees!).  I also enjoying taking flying trapeze lessons (yes, like in the circus!), scrapbooking, and reading.

I am looking forward to a great year with you!

    Mission for the Class

My mission for the class is for us to learn to become respectful of one
another, to take care of one another, and to try our hardest every day.

    I expect that students will...
    - be respectful.
    - give their best effort at all times.
    - have a positive attitude.
    - be prepared to contribute positively to our class.

I hope that you will develop a love for learning and a yearning for
    knowledge.
