August 2019

Dear Boys and Girls,

Hello! My name is Mrs. Pincus and I am looking forward to being your new second grade teacher. I hope all of you had a wonderful summer and are ready to start an exciting year together. This summer I spent a lot of time visiting places with my family. (One of my favorite trips was to Wildwood.) My husband is Mr. Pincus and we have two sons named Daniel and Ryan. Daniel will be twelve in October and Ryan turned nine in June. This summer I read lots of great books too. (Beverly Cleary and Tomie dePaola are two of my favorite authors.) One interesting fact about me is that I have lived in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and London. I look forward to learning all about you too!

Second grade is an exciting adventure! There will be a lot of new information to learn, and we will make many discoveries together. Some of the topics we will be exploring are insects, communities, and lots of new math skills. We will read many wonderful books and do lots of writing. You will need to work hard and be very responsible. I expect you to try your best and work cooperatively with others. By doing this, we will have a classroom where everyone can learn and have fun. Do not worry if something seems difficult or you have a problem. I will be happy to help you.

Lastly, please bring the items listed on our classroom supply list on the first day of school. This supply list can be found on the McGinn website. It would be wonderful if you can bring a photograph or drawing of something you did over summer vacation to share with the class.  I look forward to seeing you in September. Second grade is going to be a year to remember! Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

                                                                                                                                                            Mrs. Pincus
