Student recipients of scholarships and various academic achievements are invited and honored by the members of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Administration, along with various Scotch Plains and Fanwood community groups. The entire SPFHS school community is extended an invitation to attend. Students receiving awards will receive an invitation.
Normally, this event is held in the auditorium. The 2020 Senior Awards program was held virtually. The restrictions in place will determine the format.
Senior Picnic - June 15
Senior Picnic is a PTA-sponsored eventis held on school grounds and includes plenty of food, music, and an opportunity to socialize. The picnic ends at 1:30 pm and seniors will be permitted to leave school at the conclusion of the picnic.
The restrictions on outdoor gatherings will govern this event for the Class of 2021.
The Senior Send-Off & Car Parade - June 17
This is a SPF-PTA sponsored event featuring the Class of 2021. Seniors and their families drove through the high school campus, receiving a graduation gift from the PTA....The parade continued and followed a route through the community.
Many members of the community were curbside cheering the graduates on.
NOTE: The restrictions in place will be a major factor regarding this event. An outside event is a possibility.
Under normal circumstances: Students attending the prom must arrive to school on time and remain in school until dismissal (12:30 pm). The prom is a school-sponsored event where all Board of Education rules, policies and regulations are strictly enforced.
Students receive this information and a contract when the prom bids are purchased. Students must arrive to the prom by 7:00 pm and will be permitted to leave beginning at 11:00 pm. Once a student leaves the prom, he/she will not be permitted to return.
For all school-sponsored events, smoking or drinking of alcoholic beverages is prohibited. Any student who comes to any school-sponsored event under the influence of any illegal substance will be excluded, and a parent, along with the police, will be contacted immediately. Such infractions will result in a student forfeiting their right to participate in the commencement services.
Commencement - Thursday, June 24
The restrictions in place will determine the format of Commencement for the Class of 2021. Additional details will be provided at a later date.
Rain Date: Friday, June 25 (morning of)
Diplomas: Mailed home
Diplomas are mailed home shortly after commencement.
If your diploma is not received within 2 weeks after graduation, notify the SPFHS main office staff.
