Try one or more of these activities to increase students’ social engagement, perspective-taking, and appreciation of diversity.

    • Cook a meal with your family members - including cleaning up afterward!
    • If there's a traditional family meal, learn how to make it and why it became a tradition
    • Research your heritage including speaking to older family members who might not be part of your immediate family to learn what foods are part of your heritage and why
    • Collaborate with family members on a family recipe cookbook
    • If you have a favorite dish that's prepared by a family member that's not in your home, make plans to make a video of them making the dish.  This way you'll not only know how to make it but you'll have a video memory of them.
