Dr. Joan Mast, Superintendent

  •  Dr. Mast Photo Dr. Joan Mast was appointed Superintendent of the Scotch Plains – Fanwood Public Schools on August 1, 2019.  Her tenure in the SPF school district began in 2001 when she was named the District Mathematics Supervisor. In 2010 she became Assistant Superintendent overseeing the District Curriculum Supervisors, the Technology Department and the Professional Development Programs.

    With a lifelong commitment to education, Dr. Mast received her B.A. in Mathematics Education from Georgian Court University and went on to teach high school mathematics and computer science at Mount Saint Mary’s Academy and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School.  She has served as teacher and Curriculum Supervisor for both the Millburn and Mount Olive Township Public Schools.

    Dr. Mast earned both her M.A. and Doctorate in Mathematics Education from Columbia University, Teachers College.  She subsequently earned a Principal’s Certificate and School Administrator license through the NJEXCEL Accelerated School Leader Certification Program.

    Dr. Mast believes that public schools are essential in the lives of students to ensure they have access to quality education. She believes this education leads students to discover pathways to having happy lives and to becoming productive citizens of the world.  At the core of successful schools there are dedicated educators, a visionary Board of Education, and an active, participating community.  Dr. Mast values the commitment of all stakeholders in Scotch Plains - Fanwood and is looking forward to working collaboratively with the whole community to meet the needs of all students.

    Dr. Mast enjoys reading, cycling, playing her accordion, painting, singing with the Rise Up Chorus and spending time with her family.

Dr. Robert McGarry, Assistant Superintendent

  • Dr. Robert McGarry Dr. Robert McGarry joined the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools in August, 2020 and is proud to serve the district as its Assistant Superintendent. 

    Dr. McGarry is a lifelong educator with experiences that range from preschool teaching to college administration (and just about everything in-between). He most recently served the Holmdel Township Schools as Superintendent after joining the district as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in 2014, With instructional leadership as his passion, he is happy to be back in a similar role here in SPF!

    Dr. McGarry holds degrees in Music Education from Bucknell University and The Hartt School of Music of the University of Hartford and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Organizational Theory from the University of Pennsylvania.

    Dr. McGarry enjoys the performing arts (as a participant and as an audience member) and is a running enthusiast. In fact, one of his proudest accomplishments was running the New York City Marathon.

Mr. Christopher Jones, Business Administrator/Board Secretary

  • Christopher JonesMr. Jones joined Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools in July 2021 and is proud to serve on the Administration Team. He most recently served as business administrator in Little Falls Township Public School District and High Bridge Borough School District. Prior to his public school service, he had a successful career in business, most recently at JPMorgan Chase.

    He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and a proud graduate of Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business for both his MBA in Financial Management and Economics and BS in Accounting and Finance. Mr. Jones enjoys CrossFit with his wife and spending time with his young children. 

Mr. Peter Pitucco, Director of Human Resources

  • Mr. Pitucco Mr. Pitucco has been with the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District since July 2017. Mr. Pitucco graduated from Fairfield University with a BS in Marketing and later went on to receive his MBA in Human Resources from Rider University. He is certified in New Jersey as a Principal and School Administrator.

    Mr. Pitucco has been in the field of Human Resources for over 22 years. He started with First Union National Bank (Currently Wells Fargo Bank) as a Recruiting Specialist and then a HR Generalist. Later he became a Human Resources Manager with American International Group.

    He transitioned into the field of education in 2004 when he became the Human Resources Director for the Piscataway Township School District and held that position until he became the HR Director for the Edison Township Public Schools in 2010, where he supported 18 schools for 7 years until he joined the team in Scotch Plains-Fanwood.

    Mr. Pitucco lives with his wife, 2 children and pet labradoodle Sam. In his spare time he enjoys running, going to the beach, and spending time with his family. 

Dr. Lisa Rebimbas, Director of Special Services

  • Mrs. Rebimbas Dr. Lisa Rebimbas began her career in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Public Schools in 1996 as a Spanish teacher at SPFHS.  In 2000, she was appointed as the World Language Supervisor where she oversaw the implementation of the elementary world language program, the development of interdisciplinary units and performance-based assessment tasks, and the implementation of proficiency-based instruction in the world language classrooms. Dr. Rebimbas was then appointed principal of Park Middle School, in 2003. She collaborated with the middle school staff to provide programming for all students, initiatives to support students in need of academic intervention, and the overhaul of the middle school schedule to include an advisory period, math explorations, and writing workshop.   

     In 2016, Dr. Rebimbas began her tenure as Director of Special Services. She is committed to serving the needs of each individual student and enjoys collaborating with district staff, parents, and community members in meeting each child’s needs.

    As a four-time graduate of Seton Hall University, Dr. Rebimbas is a proud Pirate! She earned a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Secondary Education and Spanish, a Master’s in Public Administration with a Concentration in Public Service, and Educational Specialist and Educational Doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership, Management and Public Policy.

    Dr. Rebimbas is a life-long learner and an avid reader. She enjoys spending time with family and watching sporting events. You will often see her on the sidelines cheering on her favorite sports teams.  

Mrs. Jeanne Cleary, Director of Operations and Special Projects

  • Mrs. Cleary Jeanne Cleary joined the Scotch Plains - Fanwood School District in April 2021 in the role of Director of Operations and Special Projects. She graduated from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York, recognized as being one of the most diverse colleges in the country. 

    She has completed coursework towards the Facility Management credential and holds the School Safety Specialist credential for the district.

    Jeanne previously built the Operations Department as Director of Operations at a local community center where she worked for over 5 years. Her professional background is in project management and in the insurance / reinsurance industry in the areas of risk management and sales.

    Formerly of Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Cleary has been a Fanwood resident since 1996 and held the offices of PTA School and PTA Council President in the SPF district. She also served as an elected member of the SPF Board of Education for 6 years and held the office of Vice President.  She served as chairperson of the Curriculum Committee and participated in several other board committees during her tenure including the Strategic Planning Committee.

    Her son is a 2019 graduate of Scotch Plains - Fanwood HS. She currently lives with her husband and their very complicated dog Molly and enjoys traveling, nature and day trips.
