Building Relationships
Just as a pebble is thrown into water causes ripples, our words, actions and feelings affect those around us, who in turn affect those around them, and so on. Our interactions with others can have an effect on the health of all those involved. Social wellness refers to good communication skills, meaningful relationships, respecting yourself and others, and creating a support system.
We All Have Mental Health

Achieving wellness is a journey...a practice. It does not happen overnight. There's no magic potion to make it happen. Anyone who tells you about a "quick fix" does not have your best interest at heart. Our Mental and Physical Health work together so we need to continually take care of ourselves, mentally and physically.

Family Relationships
Food has an almost magical way of bringing people together. We can learn so much about cultures, customs, and traditions through the culinary arts. Try one or more of these activities to increase students’ social engagement, perspective-taking, and appreciation of diversity.
- Cook a meal with your family members - including cleaning up afterward!
- If there's a traditional family meal, learn how to make it and why it became a tradition
- Research your heritage including speaking to older family members who might not be part of your immediate family to learn what foods are part of your heritage and why
- Collaborate with family members on a family recipe cookbook
- If you have a favorite dish that's prepared by a family member that's not in your home, make plans to make a video of them making the dish. This way you'll not only know how to make it but you'll have a video memory of them.
- Find a new dish to make with your family

Making & Keeping Friends
