• The SPFHS Zoology students created a Science and Arts Integration exhibit titled "On the Wings of Paradise".  This project was a melding of science, art and engineering.  The new species of birds that were created by the students were required to meet specific scientific guidelines such as niche identification, consideration of form vs. function, adaptations, taxonomic ranking and ultimately, they had to be viable bird forms.  Artistically, they were to be unique and creative, visually balanced and use a variety of different textural techniques and materials.  The birds were engineered/designed to balance as a piece of art as well as be able to fly, sit or stand as defined by the birds' scientific descriptors.  Students reflected on the nature of beauty, both within the artist's perspective and the realm of science and the natural world.
